Documents we handle

The paperwork the industry & technical sector generates

What lies underground built the industry here: Tournai blue stone, the quarries of Péruwelz and Brunehaut, lime and cement towards Antoing. The food industry of Picardy Wallonia and the workshops of Ath complete the picture. Between a machine delivered from Germany, a Flemish set of specifications and a Polish site crew, documentation changes language several times a month.

Industry & technical
Our angle

The industry & technical sector ten kilometres from France

The ground underfoot accounts for part of the local economy. Blue stone has been cut here for centuries, the quarries and lime kilns around Antoing supply construction well beyond Belgium, and cement leaves by road and by water. Alongside, the food industry of Wallonie picarde processes and exports, while the textile past and the tapestry trade have left a fabric of workshops and reconverted know-how. All of it produces the same raw material for us: technical documentation that has to change language without holding up a delivery.

The order of the languages follows the map. Dutch serves Flemish customers and client bodies twenty kilometres away; the French of France is not quite ours once construction standards, units of work or tender documents are involved, and we adjust accordingly; English carries the normative frameworks; Portuguese, Polish and Romanian are the languages of part of the crews on site. From the first order a glossary opened in your name stays yours, and the translation memory then retrieves whatever has already been approved: terminology stops drifting, and the budget tightens from one project to the next.

A sign fixed above a machine, or five minutes of instructions before a shift starts, is written in the language of the people receiving it and at their level. A flawless text the operator does not understand protects nobody.

  • Manual for assembly, use and upkeep
  • Specifications and response to a call for tenders
  • Safety data sheet and product standard
  • Consignment note, customs declaration, traceability
Bringing in an interpreter

Situations that need someone in the room

Nobody notices a misread instruction at the moment it is given. It shows up at the handover, when the next shift does something else.

Machine acceptance

Start-up, performance testing and handing control to the operators, with the foreign manufacturer present.

Safety induction

Arrival briefing for an outside crew, with questions asked in the operators' own language instead of a form signed at the gate.

Audit and certification

A visit from a certification body, a hygiene inspection or a customer audit, with questions put straight to the crews.

Supplier negotiation

Technical alignment with an equipment maker, a review of specifications, the handling of a recorded deviation.

In extraction and materials, a technical sheet is also a contractual commitment. Get a strength class, a particle size distribution or a tolerance wrong and the whole batch is up for discussion on delivery. We carry the values and units across exactly as they stand, leave standard references in their original form, and flag whatever is illegible instead of reconstructing it.

The route

Four steps, from the photo to the document

One project manager keeps your industry & technical file from start to finish: nothing gets lost between one contact and the next.

  1. 01

Send the document as it is

A phone photo will do, crooked framing included. Booking an interpreter instead? Give us the day, the address and the two languages in the room.

  2. 02

Price and delivery date in 1 h

The quote states the amount, the deadline and the route: sworn where an authority demands it, standard everywhere else. Nothing to pay, nothing to sign.

  3. 03

A linguist from the field takes over

Your text goes to someone who works with industry & technical terminology daily, and a second person reads it through before anything is sent.

  4. 04

    Delivery or on-site assignment

The document arrives by email; the stamped copy follows by registered post if a counter insists on the original. For a spoken assignment, the interpreter is there on the hour.

What we stand behind

What changes once a industry & technical file reaches us

01

What is approved is not redone

The translation memory keeps every approved segment. When a procedure changes across two paragraphs, only those two paragraphs go back into translation.

02

The glossary is handed over

Before fixing a term, we have it confirmed by the person who uses it on the line. You then receive the file and it stays yours, even if you work with someone else one day.

03

The right specialist, not the first one free

A specialised text goes to a linguist who works in that field. A short deadline does not suspend the rule, it only means searching faster.

04

Confidentiality put in writing

Anyone who opens your file has signed a confidentiality undertaking beforehand. Files sit on European infrastructure and are wiped the moment you ask in writing.

05

No line added afterwards

The figure you approve at the start is the one on the invoice. Revision, layout and delivery are already inside it, with nothing surfacing at the end.

06

The drive is not charged to you

Reaching Tournai, Mouscron, Ath, Lessines, Péruwelz, Comines-Warneton or Beloeil costs you nothing extra in travel.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Do you work in our file formats?

We take your files in their own format, from word processor to spreadsheet, from InDesign to FrameMaker, in XML as in XLIFF, and the layout comes back intact. On a drawing, the translated wording has to fit the title block: twice as long and the drawing becomes unusable.

Do safety data sheets follow a fixed frame?

The sixteen sections of the REACH regulation, yes. Hazard and precautionary statements have an officially published wording in every EU language: you copy them across, you do not rephrase them, or the sheet loses its regulatory value.

Who translates a quarry or cement works file?

A translator who has handled such documents before, then read through by a second person. We ask for whatever you already hold in two languages: an older bilingual specification is worth more than any amount of terminology research.

Can an interpreter stay on site for a whole week?

Yes, and on a start-up or an audit that is preferable: the same person carries the vocabulary and the context from one day to the next. They arrive with their own protective equipment and sign your visitor rules like any outside party.
