Questions about our rates
What pushes a price up or down?
Four variables, and they weigh in this order: the language pair, the field, the word count and the deadline. Dutch, which we handle every day because Flanders is twenty kilometres away, does not price like a language few sworn translators in Belgium practise. The unit of account is the word in the source text for a plain translation, the 250-word page for a sworn translation, with any page started falling due. Segments the translation memory finds in an earlier file escape the full rate.
Does the quote cost anything?
No, and it commits you to nothing. Upload the document in the form: the firm amount goes back out within the working hour. A phone photo does the job as long as it is legible, a scanner is nowhere required.
How is the work paid for?
By bank transfer. Our details arrive as soon as the quote is accepted and production starts on receipt. Companies, public bodies and firms that work with us regularly can ask for a single invoice at the end of the month.
Is the price fixed once the quote is confirmed?
Yes. Once accepted, a quote holds, taxes included, and it already covers translating, revising and delivering. Just two items may still join it, the urgency surcharge and the legalisation of the signature, both shown to you before you confirm anything. Our general terms set out the tax treatment that applies.
Do you run express work at the weekend?
Yes, and that includes Sundays and public holidays. Most sworn translations are out within 24 hours: the signed PDF reaches you by email while the stamped copy goes into the registered post that same day. You see the surcharge before confirming anything: +50 % for 24 h, +75 % for 12 h, +100 % for 6 h.
Will your invoice pass through accounts?
Yes. After every assignment an itemised invoice goes out by email: the service described, the file reference, the legal wording. Your accountant will have nothing to come back to us about.
